Evidence-based treatment or evidence-based practice means therapies and techniques that have been demonstrated by research to work very well, over and over again for many different people. This means that the work we do together will be backed by science. This does not mean, one-size-fits-all as good evidence-based practice always takes into consideration each client and their unique histories, identities, culture, and experiences.

It can be difficult to determine an exact number of sessions that may be most beneficial. Depending on the concerns a person is looking to address, 6-8 sessions may be all that is needed. Others want to engage in more long-term work, which may last anywhere from 3 months to a year. We will discuss your goals for therapy in the first session and I can give you a best estimate of the number of sessions needed. I aim to make sure each session is meaningful and that we stay on track to address both your short-term and long-term goals.

There are many different types of mental health providers and we do not all share the same expertise. Especially in a private practice setting, there can be limits to the types of care provided. Clients struggling with more severe challenges, may be best served by a higher level of care. I will do my best to assess these needs and communicate with clients as early as possible if a different provider or higher level of care may be most appropriate. Referrals will be provided.

Yes! I offer in-person appointments at 1700 W Irving Park. Chicago, IL 60613 as well as telehealth appointments.

Prior to the first session Dr. LeMaire will send you paperwork through Simple Practice (a confidential medical record system). You will create a logon, read through and sign the consent forms and answer a number of questions about your history and goals. This may take about 30 minutes. The paperwork should be completed no later than midnight the day before your appointment is scheduled. If paperwork is not completed on time, the first appointment may be rescheduled. If your appointment is in-person, you will also receive detailed instructions about finding the office. If the appointment is virtual, you will be sent a secure link 48 hours and 10 mins before your scheduled appointment time.
-
Most sessions will last approximately 55 mins. If another amount of time would work better for you, such as a 30 minute session, you are welcome to discuss these options with Dr. LeMaire.

Yes. If you are scheduled for either in-person or virtual and would like to switch, contact Dr. LeMaire directly. Dr. LeMaire can almost always switch to virtual. If you would like to switch to in-person this can likely be accommodated if it is a day Dr. LeMaire is in the Ravenswood office.
